Kristian Vigenin held talks with the Ambassador of Australia Jenny Bloomfield

Minister Kristian Vigenin met today with Jenny Bloomfield, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia to Bulgaria, based in Athens. They discussed a number of topics of the bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction with the positive political dialogue and fruitful cooperation within international organizations.

Bulgaria and Australia have traditionally good partnership and I hope that we will be able to realize the full potential of our relations by intensifying our trade and economic ties, said Minister Vigenin. He emphasized that Bulgaria's membership in EU and NATO and the partnership between Australia and NATO, create favorable conditions for further strengthening and expanding the bilateral relations.

Ambassador Bloomfield thanked for the support of Bulgaria as EU member state in the negotiations on the EU-Australia Framework Agreement. We are ready to expand cooperation in various fields of mutual interest such as trade, investment, infrastructure, education and science, tourism, she said.

Minister Vigenin expressed gratitude for the assistance of the Australian local and federal authorities to the Bulgarians in Australia who are also a good basis for the development of active cooperation in a wide range of areas.

The Bulgarian community in Australia is a bridge between the two cultures, said Ambassador Jenny Bloomfield. She emphasized that the representatives of the Bulgarian community are professionals  who are very well accepted and integrated into the Australian society.
