Fifth chess game between fans of "Levski" and CSKA in support of tolerance on sports pitches

The fifth game of chess at 100 tables between fans of "Levski" and CSKA took place in Universiada hall. The event is under the patronage of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Kristian Vigenin and it isheld in support of the candidature of Sofia and the South West region for European Capital of Sports in 2017.

"I am glad that the battle between Levski and CSKA is held for the fifth consecutive year and has become a tradition because chess is a sport for all ages and professions. This has proven over the years as a successful formula for the promotion of the sport," said Minister Vigenin."Both sports clubs proved that there can be tolerance - both on and off the pitch," he added.

Kristian Vigenin thanked the organizers for the excellent work they have done and greeted the fans of " Levski", who celebrate this year the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the club. The Director of Chess Club "Levski”, Nikolay Todorov, handed to Minister Vigenin a honorary plaque on the occasion of the anniversary of the sports club. The Foreign Minister and the world chess champion, Antoaneta Stefanova, made ​​the symbolic first move on behalf of both teams.

For fifth consecutive year, more than 200 fans of the ancient game gathered in Universiada hall and  with their participation they expressed commitment to tolerance at sports pitches and against xenophobia and violence that are often present at the games in the country. In the battle traditionally participated many public figures from politics, sportsand arts. For another year, two sets were played with the colors of the figures reversed .
