Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria and Colombia

Political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Colombia were held on 9 April in Sofia. From the Bulgarian side, the consultations were led by the Director General of Bilateral Relations DG,  Petko Doykov, and from the Colombian side by Ambassador Francisco Koy, Director for Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia.

The Colombian delegation held meetings with the Directors of MFA Directorates America, Consular Relations, EU Common Foreign and Security Policy, EU Policy and Institutions, as well as with the Director General Petko Doykov.

During the meetings, the participant discussed the current state and the prospects for development of Bulgarian-Colombian relations, including in the context of EU-Colombia, and identified topics of mutual interest.They also exchanged views and positions on key issues on the international agenda, bilateral regional dialogue between the EU and the Community of Latin America and the Caribbean States, as well as on some priority nominations of both countries in the UN system.

Both sides agreed to continue the bilateral political dialogue. The Colombian side expressed readiness to intensify the cooperation with Bulgaria in the field of economy and culture through the implementation of specific events and initiatives in 2014.
