Kristian Vigenin awarded MFA employees for their contribution to the re-election campaign of Irina Bokova

At an official ceremony today, Minister Kristian Vigenin awarded employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for their personal contribution to the re-election campaign of Irina Bokova for a second term as Director General of UNESCO. "I thank all colleagues who did so much work. The re-election of Ms Bokova is undoubtedly one of the most joyous and important events for Bulgaria on the international scene last year,” said the Foreign Minister. He pointed out the active work of the MFA as an institution, that actively supported the re-election campaign of Irina Bokova and expressed his gratitude to all employees of the Foreign Ministry, the Bulgarian missions abroad and their heads who made ​​efforts to realize this common goal.

Minister Vigenin awarded a gold badge of honor to Rumyana Mitreva, Head of UNESCO Department,  Human Rights  Directorate, and Secretary General of the National Commission for UNESCO of the Republic of Bulgaria; a silver badge of honor to Emil Yalnuzov, served as Director General of the Global Affairs DG;  a honorary diploma to Rayko Raychev, current Director General of the Global Affairs DG; Valeri Yotov, Director of  UN and Cooperation for Development Directorate; Mima Stoilova - Nikolova, Ambassador at Large for International cultural policy, cooperation with UNESCO and NGOs, and Stanislava Bedzheva - Nishkova, Chief expert at UNESCO Department , Human Rights Directorate.

"For me this is a success of Bulgaria and the Bulgarian diplomacy. I have always believed in teamwork – when we are united, much can be achieved," pointed out Irina Bokova. She expressed her gratitude to all employees of the Foreign Ministry who worked on the campaign for her election as Director General of UNESCO, both during the first and the second mandate. Irina Bokova emphasized that she will continue to work for strengthening the reputation of Bulgaria and its capabilities.

"There are yet many challenges ahead for Ms Bokova and she can count on our support," the Foreign Minister said in conclusion. Kristian Vigenin expressed confidence that the Director General of UNESCO will have a even more successful second term.
