Minister Kristian Vigenin held talks in Sofia with the US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Victoria Nuland.The meeting took place during the one-day working visit of Victoria Nuland to our country.
Among the main topics of discussion were the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and the US, the situation in Ukraine and the process of inclusion of ourcountry in the program for visa-free travel to the US, Visa Waiver Program (VWP).
Minister Vigenin prioritized the removal of visa restrictions both bilaterally and in the transatlantic run. According to him, ourcountry realizes the internal political dynamics in the US, related to the expansion of the VWP, and monitors the developments on the issue in the Congress and executive power.
A gratitude for the cooperation and collaboration in the process of meeting the criteria to join the VWP was expressed. Both sides expressed hope that the overall immigration debate in the US will lead to favorable changes in the conditions for joining the program in the immediate future.
