Deputy Minister Velitchkov participated in Chile's presidential inauguration

Deputy Foreign Minister Angel Velitchkov participated  in the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected President of the Republic of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, held on 10 - 11 March in the capital city of Santiago and in Valparaiso, where the Chilean parliament is located.

On 10 March, Deputy Minister Velitchkov participated in the greetings ceremony of the outgoing President Sebastián Piñera. Later that day the Bulgarian representative was a guest at a reception, hosted by the current Foreign Minister Alfredo Moreno Charme.

The official inauguration ceremony of the newly elected President Michelle Bachelet was held on 11 March at the National Congress of Chile in the city of Valparaiso .

In the context of the growing importance of Chile as a regional political and economic factors, the development of closer cooperation and partnership of the Chile with the EU, Bulgaria's participation in the ceremony aims to give a sign of the renewed interest of our country in the region and to contribute to the strengthening of the traditionally good bilateral relations.

During his visit, Deputy Minister Angel Velitchkov was accompanied by the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Bulgaria in Chile, Katia Dobrew Hott, descendant of one of the doyens of the small but perfectly integrated and authoritative Bulgarian community in Chile.
