Kristian Vigenin sends a telegram to Sergey Lavrov over the terrorist attacks in Volgograd

30 December 2013 News

Foreign Minister Kristian Vigenin sent a telegram of condolences to his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov over the terrorist attacks that took place on 29 and 30 December 2013 in Volgograd and resulted in the death of dozens of innocent people.

The extreme cruelty of the terrorist attacks, committed on the eve of New Year and preceding the holy Christian holiday Christmas in Russia, is causing anger, resentment and sympathy to the tragedy among the Bulgarian citizens, says the telegram. It states that those responsible for the attacks should be quickly captured and brought to justice.

Minister Vigenin expressed the principled Bulgarian position that strongly condemns all acts of terror that lead to innocent victims and material damage, and emphasized the need for joint efforts in the fight against this global evil in its various forms.

In the telegram, the Minister expressed hope that terrorism would not spoil the upcoming conduct of one of the largest sports events in 2014 - the Winter Olympics in Sochi.
