10 October 2013 News

Minister of Foreign Affairs Kristian Vigenin sent a letter of condolences to the Chairman of the European People’s Party (EPP) Group in the EP, Joseph Daul, on the passing away of Wilfried Martens.

"It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing away of Mr. Wilfried Martens. He will be remembered in the minds of the citizens of the United Europe with his merits as a longtime politician and head of the government of the Kingdom of Belgium, as well as co-founder and President of the European People's Party, “ is written in the telegram sent.

The letter also states that today Europe has lost one of its leaders, “a man whose work and aspirations has been focused on the implementation of the European project in the benefit of the citizens.”

"Allow me, on my behalf and on behalf of the Bulgarian government to express to you, the European People's Party and the family of Mr. Martens our most sincere condolences,” the text says.
