Kristian Vigenin will participate in the EU General Affairs Council in Brussels

Minister of Foreign Affairs Kristian Vigenin will participate in the meeting of the EU General Affairs Council on September 30 in Brussels. The Council will discuss preparations for the European Council meeting on October 24-25, devoted to the restoration of the economic growth and employment, with a focus on the digital economy, research and services. The ministers will discuss also the Cohesion policy legislative package for the next multiannual financial framework.
On October 1, Minister Vigenin will meet with the Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle. They will discuss the European integration of the Western Balkans and the EU policy towards the Eastern partners and the forthcoming November summit of the Eastern Partnership in Vilnius.
Minister Vigenin will also hold talks with the European Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response Kristalina Georgieva. The two will talk about the growing number of asylum seekers in Bulgaria. The program of the Minister includes meetings with Joseph Daul – Chairman of the EPP group, Hannes Swoboda - Chair of PES and Rebecca Harms- co-president of the Greens/EFA group.Minister Vigenin will meet with the Chairman of the European Parliament Committee on Foreign Affairs Elmar Brok.
