Warning to Bulgarian citizens in Syria and Lebanon

09 September 2013 News

Due to the extremely deteriorated security situation in Syria, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria gives once again an official warning to Bulgarian citizens to leave the country as soon as possible. Given the continued destabilization of the situation and the critically increased security threat, after repeated warnings to leave the country made by the MFA and announced in the Bulgarian media, the remaining on Syrian territory will be the sole responsibility of every citizen.

As until now, MFA strongly advises against all travel to Syria until normalizing of the situation in the country.

Due to the continuing deterioration of the political situation in Lebanon, the strong recommendation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to all Bulgarian citizens to refrain from travelling throughout the country, except in emergencies, remain in force.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria continues to monitor closely the situation in Syria and Lebanon. We recommend that Bulgarian citizens who are already on the territory of Lebanon, to register with the Embassy of Bulgaria in Beirut by telephone or email, and to be ready to emergency leave the area. Pre-registration and maintaining contact with the Embassy will allow Bulgarian citizens residing in the country to be informed promptly in case of critically increased risk and possible reactions in an event of emergency.
