Opportunities for applying and financing projects of the European Endowment for Democracy

20 August 2013 News

European Endowment for Democracy (EED) is accepting proposals for projects that contribute to the development of a pluralistic, multi-party systems and democratic societies with a focus on the countries covered by the EU neighborhood policy.  Non-governmental organizations, civil movements and individuals, young leaders and representatives of the independent media can apply. The first decisions for funding will be taken at the end of September 2013, but the Endowment will accept proposals throughout the year.

More information about the activities of the Endowment, the procedure and the application form is available here: http://democracyendowment.eu. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs encourages all representatives of NGOs to present their proposals.

The European Endowment for Democracy is a political tool of the EU and its Member States, established with the aim of providing material and technical assistance to the countries and societies in transition, within the framework of the neighborhood policy. The decision for its establishment was taken by the EU Member States in December 2011 and Bulgaria expressed its support for the idea from the very beginning. Using the experience of the EU countries in their transition to democracy is a fundamental principle of the Endowment and we are convinced that the Bulgarian NGO sector could contribute with its expertise.
