Statement by Foreign Minister Kristian Vigenin on the bombing in Beirut

Bulgaria strongly condemns the bombing in southern Beirut, in which many innocent Lebanese civilianswere killed and injured, and expresses its deepest sympathy to the relatives of the dead, to the whole Lebanese people and the Lebanese authorities.
There is no motive or cause that can justify terror against civilians and innocent people. We believe that Lebanese society will not allow itself to become involved in a wave of violence that could push the country to unpredictable consequences.
We call on all Lebanese political parties and religious faiths to immediately seek the path to understanding and to accelerate the formation of a government reflecting the national interests of the country, for the sake of preserving its unity, sovereignty and security and the preservation of civil peace.
