Minister Velislava Petrova Holds Meeting with North Macedonian Foreign Minister Timčo Mucunski

Minister Velislava Petrova held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of the Republic of North Macedonia, Timčo Mucunski, on the sidelines of the International Conference on Corridor VIII in Sofia.
Minister Petrova reaffirmed Bulgaria's support for the European perspective of the Republic of North Macedonia, in accordance with the principle of own merits. In this context, she requested information on the timeframe within which the Republic of North Macedonia plans to fulfil the commitments set out in the 2022 European Consensus, which are necessary for the opening of the country's EU accession negotiations.
The case of Iva Mihailova, an ethnic Bulgarian from North Macedonia, was also discussed, with Minister Petrova welcoming Skopje's agreement to allow Bulgarian medical professionals to join the medical panel assessing Ms Mihailova's health condition. Minister Petrova expressed the Bulgarian side's expectation that Iva Mihailova would be allowed to receive the necessary medical treatment.
The two sides agreed to continue open communication on matters of mutual interest at their respective levels.
