There is no cause that can justify terrorism

18 July 2013 News

"July 18 is a date that we always will remember – apart from the pain that will burn in the hearts of Bulgarians and Israelis who have lost loved ones in such an absurd way, July 18 will remain in our minds as the day that terrorism dealt another cruel blow to the civilian population. The horror of the tragedy cannot and should not be forgotten.” This was said by Minister of Foreign Affairs Kristian Vigenin at a ceremony held in Bourgas today to mark the first anniversary of the terrorist attack at Sarafovo Airport that killed a Bulgarian citizen and five Israeli tourists.

"I believe that the only option we have - we, as democratic societies, is to unite and together to fight terrorism," the Bulgarian Foreign Minister said. "I am confident that all such combined efforts will lead to the identification and prosecution to the fullest extent of the law of the guilty," Kristian Vigenin said. He emphasised the fact that the EU is not remaining indifferent and is working towards a consensus solution to permit the military wing of Hezbollah, on the basis of data and evidence, as well as the investigation into the bombing at Sarafovo and a number of other cases, to possibly be included in the list of terrorist organisations.

The Foreign Minister turned to the relatives of the dead with the message that despite the pain of the pointless loss of a loved one, they should not allow terrorism to change their values and principles. "Only in this way we have a real chance to win," Kristian Vigenin said in conclusion.
