The Bulgarian Government will make every effort to ensure justice in the case of Iva Mihaylova. This was stated by Minister of Foreign Affairs Velislava Petrova, who met today with Hristina Mihaylova, the young woman’s mother.
Minister Petrova expressed both her institutional and personal concern and sympathy regarding the serious health condition of the 23-year-old Bulgarian woman and the difficult situation in which she and her family find themselves.
The Foreign Minister briefed Hristina Mihaylova on the steps taken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to date in connection with the refusal by the authorities in the neighbouring country to allow Iva to receive the medical treatment she urgently needs abroad. Bulgaria is providing the necessary support with a view to ensuring the best possible legal protection in the case.
Minister Petrova emphasised that Bulgaria remains unwaveringly committed to efforts to bring the case to a swift and successful conclusion. “Please convey to Iva that she is not alone and that she can continue to count on our support at this difficult time for both her and you,” the Bulgarian Foreign Minister said.
