Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Hristo Polendakov held a meeting with Singapore’s candidate for election as a judge to the International Court of Justice for the term 2027-2036, Ambassador Rena Lee.
During the meeting, Ambassador Lee presented her candidacy and outlined her priorities, which include further strengthening the role of the International Court of Justice and ensuring the active participation of small states in international justice.
The current challenges facing the International Court of Justice and possible measures to address them were discussed in the course of the conversation. Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting and upholding international law and expressed support for the International Court of Justice as a key institution for maintaining global peace and security.
The two sides emphasized the importance of the bilateral partnership between Bulgaria and Singapore and expressed their readiness to maintain active contacts and a constructive exchange on issues on the bilateral agenda.
