Deputy Minister Ivanka Tasheva Meets with the Abbot of Zograf Monastery, Archimandrite Gavriil

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivanka Tasheva met at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the Abbot of the St George the Great Martyr Zograf Monastery, Archimandrite Gavriil. She congratulated him on his election as Abbot and wished him every success in his spiritual ministry and in leading the Zograf Monastery.
During the meeting, Deputy Minister Tasheva expressed her high appreciation for the mission of the Zograf Monastery as a guardian of Bulgaria’s spiritual, cultural and historical heritage. She underlined the importance of the strong cooperation between the Bulgarian State, the Bulgarian Orthodox Church and the Holy Monastery of Zograf in preserving the nation's spiritual and cultural traditions.
The discussion also focused on ongoing efforts to preserve, restore and promote the Monastery’s cultural and historical heritage, including the digitisation of its valuable manuscript, archival and library collections. Particular emphasis was placed on the role of the Holy Monastery of Zograf as one of the foremost spiritual centres of Bulgarian monasticism, which has safeguarded Orthodox traditions, Bulgaria's spiritual identity and historical memory throughout the centuries.
