Deputy Minister Tasheva Meets with Turkish Ambassador to Bulgaria Mehmet Sait Uyanık

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivanka Tasheva met today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Bulgaria, Mehmet Sait Uyanık.
The discussions focused on current security challenges, including those in the Black Sea region, as well as the need for closer coordination between the European Union and NATO in addressing them. Both sides underlined that strengthening the Eastern Flank, ensuring stability in the Black Sea region and the Western Balkans, and enhancing connectivity are of key importance for the resilience and security of the Euro-Atlantic area.
Deputy Minister Tasheva stressed that security in the Black Sea is among Bulgaria’s foremost priorities, highlighting the region's strategic importance for strengthening security, improving connectivity, and developing transport and energy corridors. It was noted that, in the current dynamic geopolitical environment, deepening regional cooperation and building resilient connectivity corridors are in the mutual interest of Bulgaria and Türkiye.
The two interlocutors also exchanged views on current international issues, including the need to intensify diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, as well as the situations in Iran and the Middle East. They emphasised the strategic importance of continuing bilateral dialogue and coordination on these issues.
The meeting also included a discussion on mutual support for Bulgarian and Turkish candidatures in international organisations.
