Deputy Minister Polendakov Participates in the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Hristo Polendakov participated in the ministerial segment of the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.
In Bulgaria’s national statement, he underlined that, in the face of growing global uncertainty and increasingly complex challenges, the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development requires effective international cooperation, strong institutions and strict adherence to international law. Deputy Minister Polendakov noted that Bulgaria regards peace, human rights and sustainable development as interrelated and mutually reinforcing objectives and remains firmly committed to efforts to make the United Nations more effective and better equipped to address contemporary challenges.
He highlighted Bulgaria’s key national priorities in the areas of sustainable water management, a secure and just energy transition, industrial modernisation and digital transformation. Deputy Minister Polendakov also emphasised the country's active role in regional cooperation for the protection of the River Danube and the Black Sea, as well as its efforts to promote innovation, the development of artificial intelligence and support for small and medium-sized enterprises.
Particular emphasis was also placed on Bulgaria’s integrated approach to sustainable urban development through investment in environmentally friendly transport, energy efficiency, modern infrastructure, climate change adaptation and the implementation of nature-based solutions.
The Bulgarian Deputy Minister reaffirmed the country’s commitment to continuing to work closely with its international partners to strengthen the multilateral system and to advance a more sustainable, secure and prosperous future for all.
