13 June 2026 News

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Christo Polendakov officially opened the Asian Festival, which is taking place today and tomorrow in South Park II in the capital.

In his remarks, Deputy Minister Polendakov highlighted that the festival serves as a bridge between the Bulgarian people and the peoples of Asia, who, despite the geographical distance separating them, are united in their appreciation of beauty and harmony. He added that the event, which has now become a tradition and is being held for the sixth time, is eagerly anticipated by the residents and visitors of Sofia and plays an important role in fostering greater mutual understanding and closer ties between Bulgaria and the countries of Asia.

Deputy Minister Polendakov also expressed appreciation to Indonesia, the initiator and co-organiser of the festival. Addressing in particular the Ambassador of Indonesia to Bulgaria, Listyowati Operananta, he noted that the two countries are marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year and expressed the hope that the festival would be the first of many initiatives contributing to the further development of friendly bilateral relations.

The sixth edition of the festival is being held under the motto “Together in Friendship and Harmony” and is organised by the Embassy of Indonesia in cooperation with the embassies of Australia, Cambodia, China, India, Japan, Mongolia, Pakistan, the Republic of Korea, the United Arab Emirates and Viet Nam.
