Meeting of Minister Neynsky with the Ambassador of Japan to Bulgaria

On 9 April 2026, Minister Nadezhda Neynsky held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Bulgaria, H.E. Mr Chikahisa Sumi, on the occasion of his assumption of office.
The parties expressed high appreciation for the active bilateral dialogue and cooperation, elevated to the level of a “strategic partnership” in 2025. A shared ambition was emphasised to further develop cooperation in specific areas of mutual interest, with a focus on emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, connectivity, green energy and others.
Minister Neynsky referred to the traditional closeness and mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries as a basis for further enhancing and expanding bilateral dialogue.
Shared concern was expressed regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine and new sources of escalation, with the interlocutors aligning their messages on strengthening effective bilateral and multilateral cooperation in a spirit of mutual understanding and in support of peace and security.
