"Bulgaria will insist on fair compensation for the relatives of Marin Marinov, the Bulgarian citizen who was killed in the Gaza Strip." This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georg Georgiev, in a statement regarding information officially released today by the Israeli side, confirming that the explosion in the city of Deir al-Balah, Gaza Strip, in which Captain Marin Marinov lost his life, was caused by a shot fired from an Israeli tank.
"I would like to once again express my deepest condolences and solidarity with the family’s grief over this tragic loss," Minister Georgiev further stated. Our top diplomat also announced that the Bulgarian side has received an official apology from Israel regarding the death of the Bulgarian citizen.
The Bulgarian Foreign Minister firmly called for such tragedies not to be repeated, stressing that the protection of humanitarian workers is of paramount importance, and the international community must ensure their safety and their freedom to fulfil their duties in accordance with international law.
"We insist on the restoration of the ceasefire and the cessation of hostilities in Gaza, to prevent further civilian casualties and to secure the immediate return of the hostages," Minister Georg Georgiev further stated in his address.
