On 3 December 2024 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms. Elena Shekerletova received copies of the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the Republic of Bulgaria, H. E. Ms. Tsovinar Hambardzumyan.

In the discussion that followed the ceremony, a wide range of bilateral cooperation issues were discussed and the mutual desire for further development in areas of mutual interest was expressed. There was a common opinion that the traditionally excellent friendly relations between our two countries, built on the basis of long-standing historical and cultural ties between the Bulgarian and Armenian people, as well as the active bilateral political dialogue should find a more visible expression in the deepening of cooperation in areas such as trade and economy, transport and connectivity, tourism, innovation, education, science and culture, energy and security.

Upcoming events and meetings on the bilateral agenda were also discussed, as well as specific priority projects for both countries in the field of connectivity and green energy transmission. The excellent interaction within international organisations was identified as an additional positive dynamic in bilateral relations.

Deputy Minister Shekerletova welcomed the desire of the Republic of Armenia to deepen its relations with the EU, confirming Bulgaria's readiness to share its comprehensive experience and expertise in various sectoral areas. He stated that Armenia is a priority country for Bulgaria in the Development Cooperation and stressed that our country will continue to finance bilateral and multilateral regional projects.

In her turn Ambassador Hambardzumyan expressed gratitude to the Armenian side and said that for Armenia Bulgaria is a priority and important partner — not only bilaterally, but also within the European Union.

Deputy Minister Shekerletova wished good luck to the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia, H. E. Ms. Tsovinar Hambardzumyan, assuring her that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria is ready to assist her in all matters.
