Minister Ivan Kondov awarded the Golden Badge of Honour of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Director of the Diplomatic Institute Tanya Mihaylova

At a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov today awarded the Director of the Diplomatic Institute Tanya Mihaylova with the Golden Badge of Honour of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria for her significant contribution to the development and promotion of the prestige of the Bulgarian diplomatic service.
In his speech at the ceremony, which took place in the presence of the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, employees of the diplomatic service and the Diplomatic Institute, partners of the Diplomatic Institute, members of its National Advisory Council and young diplomats from the last graduating class of the Institute’s trainee attaches, Minister Kondov highlighted the professionalism and leadership of Ms. Tanya Mihaylova as a long-serving employee of the diplomatic service and Director of the Diplomatic Institute since 2012. He emphasized the role of the Institute as a leading institution for diplomatic training not only in the national, but also in the regional and European context and congratulated Ms Mihaylova for her comprehensive contribution to the professional qualification of Bulgarian diplomats, as well as for the development of a number of contemporary areas in Bulgarian diplomatic practice such as public and digital diplomacy, energy and climate diplomacy, economic diplomacy. Minister Kondov highlighted a number of international training and research institutions in the field of foreign policy where Ms Mihaylova represents Bulgaria, including the European Security and Defence College, the European Union Institute for Security Studies, the EU Diplomatic Academy, the European Union — Latin America and the Caribbean International Foundation and the International Forum on Diplomatic Training.
In her response, the Director of the Diplomatic Institute, Tanya Mihaylova expressed her gratitude for this highest professional recognition to the professional leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as to all those who have contributed to the establishment of the Institute’s authority over the last 21 years since its establishment — its network of national and international partners, the trainees in the Institute’s programmes for Bulgarian and foreign diplomatic and civil servants, the lecturers sharing their knowledge and expertise in the Institute’s specialised courses and the Institute’s team for its administrative, teaching, creative and project capacity.
