17 June 2024 NewsOn 14 June 2024, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov held a meeting with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Envoy of the Kingdom of Sweden to the Republic of Bulgaria, based in Stockholm, H. E. Katarina Rangnitt.
In the course of the talks, both sides highly appreciated the bilateral interaction between Bulgaria and Sweden, as well as the fruitful cooperation within international organizations. The shared benefit of further strengthening the dialogue and partnership in the light of the 110th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, which we are celebrating this year, as well as following Sweden's accession to NATO, was noted.
Deputy Minister Ivan Kondov expressed his gratitude to the Swedish side for Stockholm's consistent support for Bulgaria's foreign policy priorities such as accession to Schengen and the OECD. Mutual appreciation was expressed for the assistance of the state institutions in both countries in the conduct of the electoral processes on 9 June 2024 - early parliamentary elections in Bulgaria and elections to the European Parliament.
The participants exchanged positions on topical issues on the European agenda such as aid to Ukraine, EU enlargement, the Western Balkans and security challenges. The two sides agreed on the desire to strengthen bilateral political dialogue and deepen interaction in all areas of shared interest.
