The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs Mariya Gabriel, will pay an official visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at the invitation of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Al-Safadi.

Deputy Prime Minister Mariya Gabriel will be received by His Royal Majesty King Abdullah II, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The purpose of the visit is to identify new opportunities for deepening bilateral cooperation based on common interests and values.

Jordan is an important partner of Bulgaria in the Middle East region. 9 October 2024 marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The focus is on security and defence cooperation to counter terrorism and radicalisation.

In this regard, this year our country is ready to host a summit in the framework of the Aqaba Process. The initiative was launched by King Abdullah II in 2015 and involves a series of international meetings aimed at strengthening cooperation and coordination in the fight against terrorism.

Jordan also ranks among Bulgaria's traditional trading partners in the MENA region with potential for development. The country is an important partner of the EU and NATO.
