In connection with media inquiries received regarding the celebration organized by the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Sofia, we inform that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not granted permission to organize such celebrations.
In accordance with the provisions of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should be notified in accordance with the established procedure by the diplomatic missions accredited in Bulgaria of an event that the diplomatic mission intends to organize in order to inform the competent Bulgarian authorities to take the appropriate security measures.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is not responsible for granting or refusing permission for events organised by embassies of other countries in Bulgaria.
In this case, the competent authority is the Mayor of Sofia Municipality or an official authorized by them.
