Governor of Arizona, Katie Hobbs, has proclaimed the month of December 2023, as Bulgarian-American Friendship Month in the U.S. state.

The proclamation, issued on the initiative of Consul General in Los Angeles Boyko Hristov, marks the strong ties between the peoples of Bulgaria and the United States of America, built on shared values and the commitment of both nations to the principles of democracy and freedom. The document highlights the rich cultural heritage of Bulgaria and the contribution of the Bulgarian diaspora to the social, economic and cultural life of the USA.

Governor Hobbs issued the proclamation in the context of the 120th anniversary of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between the two countries and expressed his desire for the friendship, partnership and cooperation between Bulgaria and the United States to continue in the decades ahead.

‘I extend my gratitude to the Governor of Arizona, Katie Hobbs, for this nice sign of friendship. The proclamation is a recognition of the contribution of our compatriots to the prosperity of this beautiful American state and our traditionally excellent cooperation with friendly and allied America,’ the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariya Gabriel said on the occasion.
