Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ms. Elena Shekerletova today held talks with H.E. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to the Republic of Bulgaria.
The main focus of the meeting were the excellent bilateral relations and the upcoming visit to Bulgaria this week of the French Secretary of State for European Affairs, Ms Laurence Boon, as well as the update of the Roadmap to the Strategic Partnership Agreement signed by the two countries in 2008.
Topical issues from the European and international agenda were also discussed - the escalation between Israel and Hamas; the war in Ukraine; the trilateral meeting of the Prime Ministers of Bulgaria, Greece and Romania at the Euxinograd residence today; the European electricity market. Ambassador Meyer confirmed France's firm support for Bulgaria's accession to the Schengen area and the euro area.
