Deputy Minister Irena Dimitrova participates in the 5th informal meeting of the Salzburg format of women ministers in Sarajevo

On 4 October 2023, Deputy Minister Irena Dimitrova participated in the 5th informal meeting of the "Salzburg format" of women ministers, part of the EU General Affairs Council and guests, which took place in Sarajevo. The visit was held on the initiative of the State Secretary for European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia, Andrea Metelko-Zgombic. Representatives of Romania, Poland and Hungary also participated. The visit provided an opportunity to learn on the ground about the current internal political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to promote its European perspective, given the upcoming publication of the EC report.

Meetings were held with the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Borjana Krishto, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Elmedin Konakovic, with the EU Special Representative and Ambassador of the EU Delegation in Sarajevo, Johan Zatler, and with the members of the Joint Committee on European Integration of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.

The achievements of the new government at the state level after obtaining the status of candidate country for membership were highlighted, which are of key importance for the continuation of BiH's European path, as well as in the interest of starting accession negotiations. It was summarized that the positive results achieved should continue to be promoted in the future.

There was a common view that maintaining the focus on BiH was essential for the prosperity of all countries in the region.
