Deputy Minister Tihomir Stoychev met with Deputy Foreign Minister of Vietnam Le Thi Thu Hang

On 25 September 2023, within the framework of the official visit to Bulgaria of the President of the National Assembly of Vietnam H.E. Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue (24-26 September 2023), a meeting was held between Deputy Minister Tihomir Stoychev and Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Vietnam. The two sides expressed satisfaction with the development of bilateral relations and expressed their readiness to further strengthen them towards the establishment of a strategic partnership, in line with the 2013 Joint Declaration. This visit was seen as an important element of the high-level political dialogue, which will give impetus to cooperation in traditional and new areas of mutual interest.
Emphasis was placed on promoting people-to-people contacts, including through educational exchanges and in the context of the Cultural Cooperation Programme and Tourism Cooperation Plan signed during the visit.
Deputy Minister Stoychev stressed the need to develop the trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and Vietnam, to which the forthcoming 24th session of the Joint Commission for Trade, Economic and Scientific Cooperation in October 2023 in Sofia should contribute. Agriculture, medicine, pharmacy, information technology, innovation and tourism were identified as potential areas for cooperation.
The two sides discussed the possibilities for interaction in multilateral formats, including within the UN, as well as in the framework of the EU-Vietnam dialogue and the EU-ASEAN strategic partnership. The Vietnamese side thanked for the ratification of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement by the Bulgarian National Assembly on 18 September this year.
