Deputy Minister Tihomir Stoychev presented the Ambassador of Pakistan in Bulgaria Ms Mariam Madiha Aftab with the Golden Laurel Branch

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Pakistan to Bulgaria, Ms Mariam Madiha Aftab, was presented with the Golden Laurel Branch Badge of Honour by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the occasion of the completion of her term of office. The award was presented by the Deputy Minister Tihomir Stoychev on behalf of Ms Mariya Gabriel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. The honor is bestowed for the overall contribution to strengthening relations between the two countries, as well as for the assistance provided during the evacuation of Bulgarian and Afghan citizens from Afghanistan in 2021.

‘I would like to express my sincere appreciation for your consistent efforts to enhance cooperation between Bulgaria and Pakistan in a number of areas of mutual interest,’ the Deputy Minister said to the Pakistani Ambassador.  The efforts of Ambassador Aftab to promote political contacts between the two countries were highly appreciated.

Deputy Minister Stoychev and Ambassador Aftab discussed the prospects for the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries, educational and cultural exchange, tourism, as well as cooperation in the field of labour migration. The importance of the signed Memorandum of Understanding in the field of maritime transport and the blue economy was also highlighted.

‘I do believe you will remain a friend of Bulgaria and I wish you and your family good health and success in your future endeavours’, the Deputy Minister concluded.
