On 10 August 2023, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Irena Dimitrova received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia in Sofia Otar Berdzenishvili. They discussed upcoming events in priority areas of interest. Further to the successful bilateral political consultations held in July this year between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries, joint work on further high-level and top-level visits was outlined. The importance of the excellent relations between the Republic of Bulgaria and Georgia and the enhanced cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats in the context of the drastically changed security environment was stressed upon. Combating disinformation and countering hybrid threats were highlighted as a common priority.
Deputy Minister Irena Dimitrova reaffirmed Bulgaria's consistent support for Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic path as an unequivocal choice of the Georgian society and in the context of the 15th anniversary of the Russian invasion of Georgia.
