27 June 2022 News

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Irena Dimitrova received the Georgian Ambassador in Sofia Tamara Liluashvili. The two sides discussed priority issues in NATO-Georgia relations in the context of the NATO Summit starting tomorrow in Madrid, in which the Prime Minister of Georgia will participate together with other prominent NATO partners.

Deputy Minister Irena Dimitrova underscored Bulgaria’s firm and consistent support for Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration and our country’s strong commitment to continue to provide assistance along this path, including as a leading nation in the Substantial NATO-Georgia Package initiatives.  Ambassador Liluashvili recognized Bulgaria’s efforts to strengthen practical cooperation between NATO and Georgia against the backdrop of the ongoing Russian aggression in Ukraine and the growing security threats in the Black Sea region. She highlighted the significant role and importance of the numerous initiatives of the Bulgarian Embassy in Tbilisi over the years, implemented in its capacity of “NATO Contact Point Embassy” in Georgia in three mandates. Special attention was paid to the expected key decisions of the NATO Summit in Madrid in response to the changed geostrategic security environment.
