Ambassador Branimir Zaimov passed away

On 17th October 2021, Ambassador Branimir Zaimov passed away.

Branimir Zaimov graduated from the Faculty of Law at Sofia University in 1980. He joined the Contracts and Legal Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1989. During the period 1992-1995 he worked as a diplomat at the Embassy in London. From 1997 to 1999 he was head of the Consular Department. In the period 1999–2004 he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of Bulgaria to Canada. Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, New York (2005-2010). From 2013 to 2018 he was Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of Bulgaria to Ireland.

He was Director of the International Law Directorate from 2010 to 2013. He worked in the International Law Department, the UN and Global Affairs Directorate, the America Directorate and the International Law and EU Law Directorate“.

Ambassador Zaimov will be remembered for his professionalism and dedication throughout his long career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

We will remember him with his incredible modesty, responsiveness, kindness and breadth of mind.
