Deputy Minister Rumen Aleksandrov received copies of the credentials of the new Swiss Ambassador to Bulgaria

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Rumen Aleksandrov accepted copies of the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Bulgaria Raimund Fuhrer.

In the conversation with Ambassador Fuhrer, Deputy Minister Aleksandrov stated Bulgaria's readiness to deepen political dialogue and cooperation in areas of mutual interest at all levels.

Among the topics of the meeting were the excellent bilateral relations, the potential for development of trade and economic relations, as well as cooperation in the field of education, science and culture.

„Bulgaria appreciates the assistance provided by Switzerland in important areas such as innovation, high technology, dual education. The partnership between our countries is valuable for us," said Deputy Minister Aleksandrov.

Prospects for renewing Switzerland's commitment to the EU's cohesion contribution and agreeing on a bilateral co-operation program between Bulgaria and Switzerland to reduce economic and social disparities in the enlarged EU were discussed.

He also thanked Switzerland for its support on Bulgaria's accession to the Schengen area and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

The two also discussed the situation in Afghanistan, the migration crisis and the protection of the EU's external borders.

Rumen Aleksandrov wished the newly appointed ambassador success in fulfilling his mission. For his part, Raimund Fuhrer thanked the Deputy Minister and expressed hope for fruitful joint work in the future on a wide range of issues of shared interest.
