Global Affairs Director-General Ulyana Bogdanska receives the newly appointed UNICEF Representative for Bulgaria Christina Dorothea de Bruin who presented her credentials. During the conversation, the two interlocutors discussed the active and fruitful cooperation with UNICEF on issues of common interest for improving the welfare of children in Bulgaria, the newly developed two-year work plan for 2021-2022 for the implementation of the UNICEF Country Program for the period 2018-2022, as well as the preparatory work on the new UNICEF Program for the country for the period 2023-2027.

Ulyana Bogdanska welcomed Christina de Bruin in her capacity as the new UNICEF Representative in Bulgaria and expressed hope for deepening the further development and the improvement of policies and programs for children in our country. "We highly appreciate the active and fruitful cooperation with UNICEF on issues of common interest to improve the quality of life of Bulgarian children. Promoting children's rights is a top priority for Bulgaria, actively pursued in all our policies and actions,” said Ulyana Bogdanska. She paid special attention to the initiative undertaken by Bulgaria as a current member of the Human Rights Council, which dedicated to the inclusive education of children with disabilities.

In addition, Bogdanska noted the fact that the newly developed two-year work plan for 2021-2022 for the implementation of the UNICEF Country Program for the period 2018-2022 is comprehensive and ambitious and provides for increased capacity to use resources for official development assistance to promote the rights of the children.

Director-General Bogdanska added that UNICEF will soon begin preparatory work on a new UNICEF Country Program for the period 2023-2027 in close partnership with all relevant institutions in Bulgaria.

Ulyana Bogdanska confirmed to Christina de Bruin that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be ready to assist UNICEF in this process.
