Ambassador Angel Angelov and Minister Bujar Osmani discuss bilateral relations between Bulgaria and the Republic of Northern Macedonia

Bulgaria remains open to an open and pragmatic dialogue with the Republic of Northern Macedonia, which will restore trust between the two countries and intensify bilateral cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. This message was conveyed to the Bulgarian side by our Ambassador to Skopje Angel Angelov at a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Northern Macedonia Buyar Osmani, which took place on May 20, 2021.

During the conversation, the Bulgarian national position was confirmed that maintaining good neighborly relations and obtaining within the process of expanding the necessary guarantees for the implementation of the Agreement between the two countries from 2017 remain a top priority for Bulgaria.

Minister Osmani welcomed the pragmatic approach of the caretaker government of Bulgaria to restore trust between the two countries and said that he expected a recent meeting with Bulgarian Foreign Minister Svetlan Stoev.

The two interlocutors welcomed the forthcoming joint trip of the heads of state of Bulgaria and the Republic of Northern Macedonia Rumen Radev and Stevo Pendarovski, who will pay tribute to the work of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius in Rome.
