The Government has approved an Annual Program for Bulgaria's participation in the European Union's decision-making process in 2021

An annual program for the participation of the Republic of Bulgaria in the decision-making process of the European Union in 2021 was adopted by a Decision of the Council of Ministers.
The annual program identifies the issues on the European agenda that are of priority importance for the country in the current year and formulates the national interest in each of them. It ensures the coordinated and effective participation of the country at all levels in the EU decision-making process and the consistent implementation of European policies.
The Council of Ministers also adopted a Six-Month Program with the priority topics and dossiers for the Republic of Bulgaria during the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union (January 1 - June 30, 2021). It is an operational document, the aim of which is to direct the efforts of the Bulgarian side to defend the national interests and positions on the issues important for Bulgaria, included in the agenda of the Council of the EU during the six months of the new Presidency.
The six-month program with the priority topics for the Republic of Bulgaria and legislative projects (dossiers) during the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union (January 1 - June 30, 2021) includes the specific topics / dossiers and the goals we set for them in different formats of the Council of the European Union in the fields of: General Affairs, Economic and Financial Affairs, Justice and Home Affairs, Agriculture and Fisheries, Transport, Telecommunications and Energy, Social Policy, Employment and Free Movement of Persons, Competitiveness, Civil Protection, Environment.
The Six-Month Program includes a total of 42 legislative dossiers and topics that will be a priority for our country in the next 6 months during the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and on which we will strive to protect the national interest.
At today's meeting, the Government also adopted a Report of the Six-Month Program with the priority topics and dossiers for the Republic of Bulgaria during the German Presidency of the Council of the European Union (July - December 2020). The report provides systematic information on the development of the debates on the priority topics and dossiers included in the European agenda and identified as important for Bulgaria in the Six-Month Program, with the priority topics and dossiers for the Republic of Bulgaria during the German Presidency of the Council of the European Union. 2020).
The Six-Month Program included over 60 legislative dossiers and topics that were a priority for our country in the second half of 2020 during the German Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and on which Bulgaria sought to protect its national interest.
Much of all priority dossiers and topics were related to the two main areas in the future development of the EU - the new 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework and the Green Deal. Developments on all dossiers and topics were regularly reported to European Councils.
