The relations between Bulgaria and Turkey were discussed at political consultations between the two countries' foreign ministries

The bilateral relations between the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Turkey were discussed today within the framework of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries, which took place via video conference. The Bulgarian delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Petko Doykov.
During the consultations, the whole spectrum of bilateral relations was discussed, with an emphasis on trade and economic cooperation, tourism, cooperation in connection with COVID-19.
The Bulgarian side sought support for Bulgaria's candidacy for the post of Secretary General of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization. Expectations were also expressed for support from Turkey for the Bulgarian proposal the Naval Coordination Centre in Varna to take over the functions of NATO Regional Naval Coordination Presence in support of the Alliance's initiative for an adapted front presence.
In connection with the measures applied for control of the coronavirus, the Bulgarian side also raised the issue of reciprocal treatment of Bulgarian citizens upon entry into Turkey, as Bulgaria does not require a PCR test or quarantine for Turkish citizens arriving in Bulgaria.
