Georg Georgiev: Bulgaria and Israel Enjoying Stable and Expanding Relations

„Despite many vicissitudes in the relations between Bulgaria and Israel in the years leading up to 1989, we have realised that our friendship and partnership endure.“ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Coordinator for the fight against anti-Semitism Georg Georgiev was quoted to say this at the opening of the photo exhibitions themed „Colours of Bulgaria and Israel.“
The exhibition at ‘Crystal’ art space in the centre of Sofia is dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Israel the two states mark this year. The event was organised by the Embassy of the State of Israel in Sofia, with the support of Sofia Municipality. Ladislav Tzvetkov, multimedia reporter, is author of the photos.
In his address, Georg Georgiev praised the stable and expanding relations and the active political dialogue between the two states. The Deputy Minister underlined the genuine friendship between Bulgaria and Israel reinforced by the people – both through the salvation of Bulgarian Jews during the Holocaust and nowadays, in terms of the 100 thousand Bulgarians living in Israel.
Among the guests at the exhibition on October 5 were H. E. Yoram Elron, Ambassador of Israel to Bulgaria, Associate Professor Todor Chobanov, Deputy Mayor of Sofia Municipality and Associate Professor Dr. Alexander Oscar, President of the Organisation of the Jews in Bulgaria Shalom.
