Today, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva hosted the Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Confederation of Switzerland to Bulgaria, Denis Knobel, for a parting meeting on the occasion of the conclusion of his diplomatic mandate to Bulgaria.

Minister Zaharieva thanked Ambassador Knobel for his personal contribution to catalysing and enhancing political dialogue between the two countries. ‘We would like to express our satisfaction with this positive trend in our trade and economic relations while we also believe that there are good opportunities and further room for enhancing our economic and investment cooperation,’ the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted. Minister Zaharieva added that it was very important that ambassadors be active and look for all manner of opportunities to enhance trade relations in view of encouraging investments.

Ambassador Knobel congratulated Ekaterina Zaharieva but also the Bulgarian government on their courage and their bravery during the Presidency, and on their responsible foreign policy stance on the Western Balkans. ‘You have added value to your rotating presidency by choosing the European prospects of the Western Balkans as one of your main priorities. Your achievements are also due to your very good expertise in the region,’ the Swiss diplomat noted.
