Ekaterina Zaharieva meets Polish counterpart Witold Waszczykowski

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva met with Polish Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski in Warsaw.
The two discussed questions of bilateral relations and the possibilities for strengthening cooperation in different sectors of the economy.
The commodity exchange between the two countries amounts to 1,600 million euros and continues to grow as during the past seven months alone the export from Bulgaria has increased by 20 percent. Three Polish investments of a total value of 70 million euro are also in the process of preparation.
Minister Waszczykowski underscored that Bulgaria is a secure and preferred destination for the Polish tourists whose number has been continuously increasing. The Minister also said that he himself has been spending his holidays in Bulgaria since 1976.
Minister Zaharieva promptly invited him to visit the country again, including on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with Poland which is to be marked in December 2018.
Different projects of the military technical cooperation were also discussed.
The two ministers also discussed a number of issues on the European agenda, including the Union’s enlargement, the withdrawal of the United Kingdom and migration.
Zaharieva familiarized her counterpart with the priorities of the Bulgarian Presidency of the EU Council and expressed special gratitude to Poland for the support for Bulgaria’s bid to join the Schengen Area.
Waszczykowski briefed Zaharieva on the Polish initiatives in the area of regional cooperation.
Earlier in the day Minister Zaharieva had a working meeting with the employees of the Bulgarian Embassy in Warsaw at which the political, trade and economic and cultural relations between the two countries were discussed.
