Ambassador Dessislava Ivanova presented her credentials to the President of Georgia

The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Bulgaria to Georgia Dessislava Ivanova presented her credentials to the President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili. The official ceremony was held on 12 September 2016.

In her statement Ambassador Ivanova pointed out that Georgia is one of the priority foreign policy partners of Bulgaria in the region. The Bulgarian Ambassador underscored the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries and her commitment to work for extending and strengthening the cooperation between the two countries in all the fields of mutual interest.

After the ceremony Ambassador Ivanova held talks with President Margvelashvili, discussing the state of bilateral relations and the ways to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries. Ambassador Ivanova reaffirmed Bulgaria’s consistent support for the European and Euro-Atlantic prospects of Georgia, and for the process of reforms in the country, including development aid projects.

For his part, the President of Georgia emphasized the importance his country attached to the Black Sea security and to the intensification of transport connections between Europe and Asia across Georgia and Bulgaria.
