Bulgaria unreservedly supports Georgia's territorial integrity

17 November 2011 News

Bulgaria unreservedly supports Georgia's territorial integrity, said Deputy Minister Dimitar Tsanchev, head of the Bulgarian delegation participating in political consultations between Bulgaria and Georgia.

Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitar Tsanchev and his Georgian counterpart Nikoloz Vashakidze today held political consultations, discussing a wide range of issues of bilateral dialogue and co-operation between the two countries at international level.

Bulgaria’s strong support for the process of Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic and European integration was reaffirmed. Georgia has made significant progress in carrying out democratic reforms and fulfilling the criteria towards the integration process.

During the consultations, particular emphasis was placed on co-operation between Bulgaria and Georgia in the energy sphere, particularly in light of Bulgaria’s desire to diversify its energy supplies, and the expertise and experience that Bulgaria can provide to Georgia in the construction of hydropower plants.

Great appreciation was expressed in regard to the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM), within which Bulgarian citizens are participating. The necessity of making efforts towards the admission the Mission to the Georgian territories Abkhazia and South Ossetia was noted.
