Daniel Mitov signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Republic of Bulgaria and the People's Republic of China

27 November 2015 News

Foreign Minister Daniel Mitov and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi signed a Memorandum of Understanding between Bulgaria and China on Thursday in Beijing. The ceremony was attended by the Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping.

Bulgaria supports the initiative of building a new Silk Road "One belt,One Road" in its two dimensions - Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road.

The Memorandum aims at jointly developing economic projects on the Silk Road. The strategic geographical position of our country on the border between Europe and Asia allows it to play an important role in building new Eurasian transport corridors.

The Memorandum will contribute to the development of different policies in the field of trade, agriculture, investments, people-to-people contacts, and cooperation between local authorities.

Bulgaria is ready to seek joint opportunities for synergy between "One Belt, One Road", 16+1 Initiative and the new EU-China Connectivity Platform.
