Meeting of Minister Daniel Mitov with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Bulgaria H.E. Manal El Shinnawi

The cooperation between Bulgaria and Egypt in the fields of tourism and economy, as well as in the international fight against terrorism were at the focus of today’s meeting of Minister Daniel Mitov with the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Bulgaria H.E. Ms Manal El Shinnawi. During the talks Minister Mitov and Ambassador El Shinnawi reaffirmed the good bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Egypt.
"Our countries have similar positions on a number of current regional and international issues. This is a very good basis for strengthening the bilateral relations in various fields," the Bulgarian Foreign Minister said. For her part, Ambassador Manal El Shinnawi reaffirmed the close friendly relations between the two countries and expressed willingness to enhance the bilateral dialogue in a number of areas. The two diplomats reaffirmed their willingness to hold bilateral political consultations in the future and Minister Mitov reaffirmed the invitation to the Egyptian Foreign Minister to visit Bulgaria. Both sides expressed their agreement in principle on holding joint military trainings.
"Egypt has a key role in the regional political processes and we expect it to make a vital contribution to resolving the current hot conflicts in the region, including the crisis in Libya, Syria and Yemen, as well as to the resumption of the Middle East peace process," Minister Mitov said. As regards the crisis in Syria, both sides stated their firm support for finding a political solution to the situation and for the preservation of the country’s integrity.
The Ambassador of Egypt said that Bulgaria is a crucial factor in the Balkans and praised the experience of our country in the areas of stability, security and human rights protection. She reaffirmed the readiness of Egypt to cooperate with Bulgaria at international level and within various international organizations of which both are members.
