Bulgarian Chairmanship-in-Office of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) has officially started

The Bulgarian Chairmanship-in-Office (C-i-O) of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) officially began on 17 July 2025 with a meeting of the SEECP Political Directors (Committee of Political Directors). The meeting took place at the Boyana Residence, where Mr. Momchil Raychevski, Director of the “Southeast Europe” Directorate at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, presented the priorities and programme of the Bulgarian C-i-O.

In his remarks, Director Raychevski emphasised Bulgaria’s firm commitment to promoting inclusive regional cooperation. The Bulgarian Chairmanship will continue to support the region's aspirations for European integration, with a particular focus on developing human capital, improving connectivity, fostering innovation and digital transformation, promoting sustainable growth, and enhancing security. Through these efforts, Sofia aims to strengthen regional connectivity, promote sustainable development, and boost the competitiveness and security of regional economies.

On the Bulgarian side, Mr. Ivaylo Iordanov, Head of the Regional Cooperation Department, “Southeast Europe” Directorate, participated in the meeting as moderator, along with the entire staff of the Regional Cooperation Department.

Guided by the motto “Compass towards Stability, Security and Sustainability”, the Sofia C-i-O programme will run for one year, from 01 July 2025 to 30 June 2026. It includes a number of initiatives aimed at fostering dialogue, connectivity and sustainability across the region.
