Bulgaria’s accession to the OECD will strengthen investor confidence and contribute to economic growth

Minister of Economy and Industry Petar Dilov participated in a session of the OECD Trade Committee in Paris, where he presented Bulgaria’s progress in the area of ​​market openness. The presentation is a first review of our country’s readiness for accession to this committee.

During his visit to the OECD headquarters, Minister Dilov held a meeting with the Deputy Secretary-General of the OECD, Yoshiki Takeuchi.

During the meeting the Bulgaria’s progress in accession reviews in the areas in which the Ministry of Economy and Industry has a leading role – the Committees on Corporate Governance, Trade, Consumer Protection and Steel was discussed.

“The competent Bulgarian institutions are strongly engaged in the accession reviews at all levels – both expert and political,” assured the Minister of Economy and Industry.

He emphasized that joining the OECD is a major foreign policy priority of the Bulgarian government and that hard work is being done to achieve it.

Minister Dilov comfirmed that Bulgaria is determined to complete the technical phase of the accession process by the end of 2025 - beginning of 2026, and to receive an official invitation from the OECD Council for accession later in 2026.

"We appreciate the progress made and the efforts of your country, as well as the Ministry of Economy and Industry, on the path to accession to the Organization," Yoshiki Takeuchi emphasized.
