Minister Vigenin presented the ‘Golden Laurel Bough’ award to Ambassador Rafael Angel Barreto

Minister Kristian Vigenin presented Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Rafael Angel Barreto with the ‘Golden Laurel Bough’ award today. The highest honor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria is awarded to Ambassador Barreto for his personal contribution and effort for the development and strengthening of the bilateral relations and on the occasion of his forthcoming final departure from the country.
“We highly value the relations with Venezuela and we will work towards strengthening and activating of the bilateral cooperation with the countries from the Latin American region” stated Kristian Vigenin. According to the Bulgarian Foreign Minister there are numerous perspectives for closer partnership between the two countries. Both Bulgaria and Venezuela should seek ways to maintain and develop their bilateral trade and economic relations, which will contribute to the development of the cooperation in many other spheres of mutual interests.
Ambassador Barreto expressed his gratitude for the recognition and pointed out that the two countries enjoy traditionally good friendly relations. He emphasized that on the eve of the 40thanniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Venezuela, the state of bilateral political dialogue is positive and expressed hope that this partnership will continue to develop in the future.
